The classroom is beautifully designed to appeal to the child\u2019s curiosity. Furniture is custom-sized to allow for maximum exploration and development of the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Classroom exercises include sensorial work, and instruction in math and language. As the child grows emotionally, physically, and intellectually, the activities in the classroom continue to change to meet his needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In many instances, this is the first experience the child has of being a member of his own \u201csociety.\u201d The child is encouraged to be a functioning member of this society, thus leading him to a feeling of pride and dignity. Waiting one\u2019s turn, sharing and patience are important lessons that each child learns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Montessori teachers offer the tenderness, warmth and patience so essential to a child\u2019s development at this age. An emphasis on the importance of a peaceful environment, along with the necessary nurturing and caring,&nbsp;are characteristics of this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>The Pre casa Curriculum<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Nido environment is divided into five distinct areas \u2013 Practical Life, Sensorial, Language and Math.<br><strong>Practical Life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exercises use familiar objects drawn from experiences in the home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children learn to care for the environment with activities such as dusting, sweeping, folding napkins, watering plants and feeding animals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caring for oneself includes managing a coat, washing one\u2019s hands and taking off and putting on shoes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specially designed \u201cdressing frames\u201d teach the child how to zip and button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food preparation is explored through pouring and spooning activities, washing various objects and setting a table.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sensorial<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sensorial activities help the child explore the world through all five senses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activities include bead stringing, matching colour tablets, matching smelling boxes, working on puzzles, and comparing smooth and rough objects of different sizes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Language<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Language activities build on the foundation established in the first two years of life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An assortment of objects and pictures are matched to Dr. Montessori\u2019s \u201csandpaper letters,\u201d helping the child learn the phonetic sounds of the alphabet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lots of singing, finger plays, stories, and \u201cconversation time\u201d make language learning fun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Math<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toddlers need a \u201chands on\u201d environment for learning concrete math concepts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children manipulate objects and begin to understand number concepts, both quantity and symbol.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Materials change with the season to keep the child\u2019s interest high.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Objects are counted and matched to the number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spindle boxes teach the concept of \u201czero,\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sandpaper numbers let the child feel the number symbols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2.5 years to 3 years Our uniquely prepared toddler environment meets the young child\u2019s many physical and emotional needs.
